While there are many positive benefits of hot yoga, there can be adverse effects if not done properly. Make sure you have a birkam yoga mat and towel. Wear comfortable, close fitting clothing with limited fabric. You are going to sweat profusely.
The usual lightweight clothing, anti-sweat athletic wear that dries quickly will do just great. For men its light tees with shorts and women can wear a tank top or sports bra with shorts or lightweight pilates memphis yoga-style pants.
If you're like me and plan on saving your stretching to after your weight routine, you won't stretch very much. But, when I incorporate stretching into my weight routine, I get 10 to 15 excellent stretches that covers my entire body and all the main yoga moves.
#1 Good mind body haus mats are slip resistant. Meaning that whenever you sweat like crazy (whether or not your doing hot yoga), your still suppose to be able to stop yourself from sliding. If you have an old, cheap mat then this probably isn't the case. You probably start your session out OK, but by the time your half way through your mat is soaked and your sliding across the room ( a slight exaggeration).
Do some research on yoga before you begin your workout. You will find that it is a wonderful way to wake up the body in the morning or a fabulous way to relax at the end of your day. Choose the time that you will practice yoga or you can choose one routine for the morning and another for the evening. Make sure that you are properly clothed for your workout with a good quality pair of yoga pants so that you can easily move your body into the correct positions. You should also use yoga mats to protect your body from the hard ground beneath you. Finally, choose a hot yoga instructional guide to help you through all of the positions.
This is especially true for those who live in very cold climates. Get there at least 10 minutes earlier than the scheduled time of the class so you'll have plenty of time to sit in the hot room. This is necessary for warming up the muscles. As you know, warm ups are very important during workout as they prepare the muscles to minimize injuries. For a quicker warm up, do a few sun salutation poses.
